That Inner Voice is a short film about a young woman who moved to London with the dream of publishing her work. She is a poet and playwright, and everyone is telling her that this is a dying art; however, she is not alone in the fight against her fears that she might not be talented enough and that it is better to give up. On her journey, she is guided by an invisible force, a voice that whispers the truth, but will she be able to hear it and become the writer of her own story?
We’re aiming to show to the audience that there is a voice guiding the main character along her way, helping her to distinguish herself from the negative beliefs that she implanted from someone else because no matter how crazy her dream is, the inner voice inside knows better what is right for you and what is not.
We’re humanizing the positive aspect of our character's psyche by giving it a natural face that only we—the audience—can see to place more weight on our idea. The negative beliefs are shown in her voice-over thoughts, her conversation with her mother, and her reactions regarding some situations in her everyday life. The negative voice represents the shadow of the psyche—her fears and doubts.
The film is suitable for all genres and ages between 18 and 45, especially for creatives who are fighting themselves to determine whether they’re good enough on their journey of becoming.

In my role as Cinematographer
My role as the cinematographer on That Inner Voice
As a cinematographer, I am responsible for bringing the director's vision to life through camera techniques, lighting, framing, frame rate, camera angles, camera movements, and composition. In this project, I work closely with the director to understand her creative goals and collaborate with the rest of the team to achieve the desired look and feel. Studying film and TV production from college to university in the past few years has allowed me to challenge myself to the next level to achieve this knowledge and experience. During the cinematography specialist workshop with Peter, I learned how to frame and camera settings such as higher resolution and camera movement and when to move them. To be a cinematographer, I must have technical skills in operating cameras and lighting equipment and a keen eye for visual storytelling. I think that one of the cinematographer’s main responsibilities is also to create a set that invites, it’s a safe place for actors to do what they must do because if they didn’t have the performance, you wouldn’t have anything in most films. The reason that I chose the way that the film looks is because I wanted it to be more like the traditional old school film style. This can be seen throughout the film due to the dark tint look.
